"Rep. Murphy endorses Obama as Democratic nominee for president"

AP:
PHILADELPHIA - Freshman U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy, an Iraq war veteran, endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on Tuesday.

Murphy, D-Pa., who served as a captain in the Army's 82nd Airborne Division in Iraq, has said troops should be withdrawn from Iraq. He is writing his memoir with Adam Frankel, an author and speechwriter working for Obama.

"I am inspired by Sen. Obama's call to service and believe he is best suited to bring about the changes we need in our country," Murphy said in a statement.

Obama, a Democratic senator from Illinois, has opposed the war from the start.

"U.S. Rep. Murphy's service to this country in Iraq and his tough, smart approach to the challenges facing us make him a fresh voice for change in Washington," Obama said in a statement.
Howie P.S.: The Hill has a catchy headline for this story: "Congress’s only Iraq war veteran endorses Obama."
