"Obama contrasts health effort with Clinton"

AP:
SAC CITY, Iowa (AP) - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama says his approach to pressing for universal health care differs from rival Hillary Clinton.

The Illinois senator, speaking in Sac City today, says in 1993 Clinton failed because planning for her universal health care proposal was done in secret. He also says there was little effort made to build political support.

Instead, Obama says Americans need to be involved in the effort. He says without political support, no health care expansion can be approved.

He also says he'd announce outlines of a health care reform package in his first 100 days as president, then convene a bipartisan commission to draft details.
