"Billie Joe gives to Obama, touts Darfur relief" (with video)
Inside Bay Area:
A cluster of boys who watched Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama’s motorcade pull up to a $2,300-a-head fundraiser at a swank home in Piedmont today breathlessly reported that they’d espied Green Day singer/guitarist and Oakland native Billie Joe Armstrong entering the event earlier.
Here’s something else Armstrong and Green Day are up to: They cut a cover of John Lennon’s “Working Class Hero,” among many artists covering the master’s songs for “Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign to Save Darfur.” Proceeds from Instant Karma’s album sales and iTunes downloads go to Amnesty International to fight for action and justice in Darfur and around the world.
Here’s the video.
