A Canadian blogger points out something I didn't know: Obama was a member of the original Dean Dozen, a list of candidates whom Howard Dean backed with his nascent movement in 2003, and in its way, a kind of ur-50-state strategy.

"In the race to regain control of the U.S. Senate, Democrats have few better chances to pick up a seat than in Illinois. DFA volunteers all over Illinois helped Obama win his primary, now it's time to help him win the general," Blog for America wrote.
